tree time

Time to get the tree and decorations down from loft for the annual airing.
The new white twig tree makes it's first appearance sporting iridescent white balls and white lights,
very excited can't wait to put that up but don't think the girls would forgive me for not putting up the ol' fav- faithful. So both it will be then......

Fallen heroes

I've been to Ypres and the surrounding Somme areas, visited Tyne Cot, Thiepval Menien gate and many cemeteries seeing the rows and rows of names and graves which is just incredible. Listening to the last post being played by the towns fire brigade at the Menin gate was one of the most emotional experiences of my life.......
I feel  it's so important to Remember.....
 We owe so much....

just a typo type

Know some one who deserves a big hug for being special? well this typo stamp is
just the ticket. Use as a backing or make into a label or banner  it has so many ways it can  be used

I have a love of type...  from a far... as I'm pretty awful at deciding on faces/fonts when I work ect.

But many moons ago when I was at Rochester fort pitt Art college we had typography classes which gave me a taster. From actually loading the galleys and characters to designing with print. It was invaluable. I love typ combo's such as above and hope it's useful.

Demo job in Crawley on Saturday was made special by Jenny from Hobby art popping in to say hi =) People were all lovely in store and got to meet some lovely crafters.
Seems people in that area do not follow footi though as I spent most of day asking what CFC score was to no avail .

Listened with dismay yesterday to yet another cruise horror story regarding a lady that fell off of Aurora. Having been on ships teaching  around the area of Porto where it was reported to take place it  can get choppy yet I fail to see how it happens. As the last place you go in high swell is near the side ?? In fact on a recent cruise a couple of weeks ago we changed destinations  because of weather the Captain rightly putting safety first as usual.

from no where

I've been trying to blog for ages but just seem to run out of time each day. Just back from four days looking after my youngest daughter in South London in a minor emergency but all well now =).

Was a bit of a trip down memory lane as I too lived in that area, caught same bus routes. So glimpses of certain places all made me very reflective. Where the hell did that 30 years go?
Living in a student house took me back too and I'm just glad she has a such a lovely bunch of housemates.

Work has been busy and being freelancer I often get people saying - oo I'd love to do what you do but I have to work for a living !! Which grates a little as I rarely get a weekend off and might be working from home which means I can hang washing out or walk to town for supplies or make endless coffee but it's blooming labour intensive often getting paid extremely little for a lot of output and no credit gets depressing.

When you sell designs to companies it's a mixed feeling because people are always trying to get your creativity for less and to be honest it' like selling your soul. I'm finding selling it myself gives me a lot more satisfaction. Even if I sell very few it's still more than I get per design for others.

On an up point the classes where I get to meet the crafting ladies is such a complete joy. Always so interesting and makes it all worth while. Some of the emails I get keep me hanging in there .When I see what you all do with my templates or stamps I always feel overwhelmed. Thank you to the ladies on Ventura a few weeks ago you all produced beautiful work.

To any young thing out there hoping for a design career I would say two words. 'Surface Design' it's so the moment -go do it!

.... in a brick wall  in old kent rd high above the facia and shop fronts was a plant that grew from seemingly no where. As I sat by a sleeping Sof I looked out of the window and I sketched away and this is my blog post..........

also just like to say Nurses make the worst patients! ;)
